PMI answer logic: how situational items really work
Eliminating distractors, spotting the 'BEST next action' pattern, and reading what the stem is actually asking. This thread continues every week.
Most PMP items are situational-judgment items. They rarely ask what a term means; they ask what you would do next, or first, or what is BEST.
A reliable read order:
1. Find the role you are in and the phase you are in.
2. Find the actual question in the last sentence — the stem often buries it.
3. Eliminate options that skip a step (escalating before understanding, deciding before consulting).
4. Between two defensible answers, prefer the one that gathers information, engages the affected stakeholder, or follows the agreed process.
This is a habit, not a trick — so you will drill it every single week, not just before the mock exam.
